How to Apply

The Applicants may apply for Indian visa, either by e-Visa or Regular Visa.
The Embassy of India in Santo Domingo has adopted an online visa application system (effective 17 June 2023).  
All applicants must complete the online visa application as per details given below:

1) E-Visa

Nationals of the Dominican Republic and Haiti may also apply for an e-Visa at:
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html
The applicant may note that the Embassy does not process e-Visas and any inquiries in this regard will need to be made directly on the e-Visa portal itself. E-Visas are directly processed by authorities in India.
Journalists traveling to India for any purpose including tourism, conference, film, documentaries, shoots, or to cover a story are not eligible to apply for an e-Visa.  They must apply for a Regular Visa,  under the ‘J(Journalist) visa category, whether traveling for work or for tourism.
2) Regular Visa:
For Regular Visas, all Dominican, Haitian and foreign applicants must submit the printed application form in person at the Embassy along with the required supporting documents and applicable fees.

Visa Application Process

  • Visit www.indianvisaonline.gov.in
  • Select Regular Visa Application
  • Complete all required fields.
  • Upload your photograph.
  • Verify the information and click Verified & Continue.
  • Submit the application.
  • Print the completed application.
  • Submit the printed application personally at the Embassy with:
    • Two passport-size photographs
    • Supporting documents
    • Proof of fee payment (Applicants must transfer the fees to the appropriate bank accounts.  The bank details will be communicated by the Consular Section to the Applicants, once the Applications are vetted and approved.)
  • Applicants aged 70 years or above are exempt from fingerprint submission.

General Information

  • Passport must be valid for at least six months.
  • Visa validity begins from the date of issue.
  • Visas exceeding 180 days require registration within 14 days of first arrival in India.
  • Applicants must not overstay their visa validity. Overstay may result in legal action and affect future visa applications.
  • Once submitted online, visa applications cannot be modified. Please verify all information carefully before submission.

Note:

  • Visa fees are non-refundable, even if the application is withdrawn or the visa is refused.
  • The Embassy reserves the right to determine the type, duration, and validity of the visa issued.

Visa Categories & Basic Requirements

Tourist Visa: Valid for 3 months to 5 years. Long term tourist visa is granted to People of Indian origin only. Maximum period of stay in India is limited to 6 months only on each visit irrespective of validity of visa granted.

  • Two recent colour photographs
  • Copy of ID / proof of profession
  • Return flight ticket or reservation
  • Proof of financial means

Business Visa: 6 months or more. Letters from sponsoring organization in India and Dominican Republic indicating nature of applicant's business, probable duration of stay, places to be visited and a guarantee to meet maintenance expenses etc. should accompany the application. 5 year business visa may be granted to persons who have set up or intend to set up joint ventures in India.

  • Hotel booking or host invitation with passport/address proof

For attending International Conferences/Seminars/Meetings in India, a letter of invitation from the organizers should be attached with the visa application. In some cases Government of India's clearance (No Objection Certificate (MHA) and MEA clearance letter) may be required.

Student Visa: Issued for the duration of the regular academic courses in recognized Indian educational institutions.

  • Admission letter from a recognized educational institution in India
  • Proof of financial support

Medical Visa: Issued for seeking medical treatment in recognized and specialized hospitals.  Validity of visa (single/multiple entry) is for up to 1 year or duration of the treatment, whichever is less.

  • Medical documents and hospital letter
  • Proof of financial ability to cover treatment
  • Medical attendants may apply for a Medical Attendant Visa linked to the patient's Medical Visa

Work Visa: Proof that the organization is registered in India should be submitted along with application. Duration of visa will depend on the period of contract or one year whichever is less.

  • Employment contract or appointment letter
  • Educational and professional qualification documents
  • Applicant must meet all eligibility requirements under Indian immigration regulations

Important Notes:

  • The Consular Officer may request additional supporting documents during processing.
  • Expats/Foreign nationals residing in the Dominican Republic or Haiti may apply only if they have legally resided there for at least two years.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Please refer to the applicable fee schedule before submitting your application.
  • Applicants are advised not to finalized travel arrangements prior to issuance of visas.
